The American Legion Legacy Scholarship

Overview

The American Legion Legacy Scholarship was established to ensure that the children of U.S. service members who were killed on or after September 11, 2001, are provided the opportunity to pursue a college education. The scholarship is funded in part by the American Legion Riders, who raise money through their annual Legacy Run; to date, the riders have raised more than $2 million for this cause. The American Legion itself is the nation’s largest network of wartime veterans, chartered by Congress in 1919, and is dedicated to supporting veterans, their families, and their communities through various health care, national security, and educational programs.
