Detroit Promise

Overview

Established by Nat Pernick, the scholarship was created to help students get a college education that they did not think was possible. Pernick founded the program because he recognized that the receipt of a scholarship has a powerful personal impact on the importance of education and helps students enjoy a better college experience by reducing financial worry. The program is distinct from other local initiatives and was inspired by Pernick's own experience receiving a four-year scholarship to Wayne State University.
