Overview
The Cranbrook Upward Bound program is a federally funded program through the United States Department of Education. It is designed to provide high school students from low-income families and families in which neither parent holds a bachelor's degree with the skills and motivation necessary to complete high school and graduate from a postsecondary institution. Horizons-Upward Bound, or 'HUB' for short, is one of the oldest and largest programs of its kind in the nation. With the guidance of faculty from Cranbrook Schools, HUB began at Cranbrook in 1965 under the 'Horizons' banner with a grant from the Ford Foundation.
