Overview

Arizona Empowerment Scholarship Account (ESA) is a program that allows parents to opt out of the public school system and receive a portion of their child's state education funding to pay for private school tuition, homeschooling, or other educational expenses. Established to provide families with more flexibility in educational choices, it was launched in 2011 and expanded to universal eligibility in 2022. It now serves over 90,000 students across the state with no income restrictions, making it the nation's largest ESA program.
