Detroit Music Award

Overview

Central High School in Detroit, a Title 1 school, has received a coveted Save The Music Foundation J Dilla Music Tech Grant to provide students state-of-the-art production equipment, technology and instruments to create electronic music and possibly a lifetime of opportunities. The grant program was brought to Detroit by Cadillac after its success in six other cities. It honors the legacy of J Dilla, a Detroit native who passed away in 2006, and was established to empower students with instrumental and employable skills through music education.
