Overview
The Thatcher Woods Nature Steward grant award is designed to support environmental stewardship and conservation efforts in the Thatcher Woods area. With support from the Thatcher Woods Fund, students from the Oak Park and River Forest High School (OPRFHS) Enviro Club have completed nature stewardship and environmentalism in the 245 acres of woodland along the Des Plaines River. Since the fund was started in 2020, it has supported efforts to remove invasive species such as buckthorn and garlic mustard, as well as monthly riverside clean ups near the Thatcher Woods Pavilion.
