Overview
The Irene and Morris B. Kessler Presidential Scholarship Fund was established by Judy and Fred Wilpon through the Judy and Fred Wilpon Family Foundation to support need-based scholarships in the University of Michigan’s College of Literature, Science, and the Arts. Named in honor of Judy Wilpon's parents, Irene Nass and Dr. Morris Kessler, the fund commemorates Dr. Kessler’s journey as a Romanian immigrant who earned a degree from Northwestern University at age 19 despite arriving in the U.S. with no knowledge of English. The benefactors, both U-M alumni, created the fund to ensure that students with significant financial need have the opportunity to receive a quality education and succeed at the university.
