Partial Scholarships

Overview

Partial scholarships are the most common type of athletic aid awarded in 'equivalency' sports (such as soccer, baseball, track, and swimming). Instead of awarding full rides to a few players, coaches receive a total scholarship budget and divide it among many athletes to cover a portion of tuition, fees, or room and board. These awards are often combined with other forms of financial support, such as academic merit scholarships, federal grants, and need-based aid, to create a comprehensive financial package.
