Overview
The Pernick Prize is an annual award established to give scholarships to Detroit Public School students excelling in Mathematics, Medicine / Science and Public Service. This award is in honor of Nat Pernick's parents, Anne and the late Larry Pernick, who grew up in Detroit and attended Detroit Public Schools. It was created to encourage students to focus on these academic areas and to motivate schools to improve their specialized programs, such as math and science clubs, while fostering investment from other organizations.
