Detroit College Promise

Overview

The Detroit College Promise was established by Nat Pernick to provide scholarships specifically for students within the Detroit Public Schools system. Pernick founded the program based on his personal experience receiving a four-year scholarship to Wayne State University, which he credits with having a powerful personal impact on his view of education and enabling him to achieve a degree he once thought impossible. The scholarship was created to reduce the financial worry of attending college and to help recipients focus on their education, thereby improving their overall collegiate experience.
