The Joe Goci Memorial Scholarship for the Trades

Overview

Joe was born in 1921, a second generation citizen of immigrant parents from Hungary, who came to this country around 1910. At that time, Ford Motor Company in Detroit was in dire need of factory workers, and offered help to immigrants with language and cultural instruction, housing guidance and other needed assimilation skills. His father, brother and Joe accumulated over 120 years with Ford over the next decades. Joe was a precision machinist for over 43 years, and enjoyed teaching and mentoring young people. The intent of this scholarship is to honor that legacy.
