Family Study Abroad Scholarship

Overview

The scholarship exists thanks to the generosity of two Michigan alumni and their family. Fred Wilpon, chairman emeritus of the New York Mets baseball team, was the first in his family to attend the University of Michigan, where he met his wife, Judy Kessler Wilpon. In 2007, the Wilpon family established the Irene and Morris B. Kessler Presidential Scholarship Fund, named in honor of Judy’s parents, to ensure other students could attend Michigan and access opportunities like study abroad regardless of family income.
