The 1998 Blue Ribbon Exemplary School Award is a recognition earned by Farmington High School from the State of Michigan. The school's history traces back to 1888, when several one-room school districts joined to create a 'Union School' that offered learning beyond the 8th grade. Following a fire in 1918 and a 1944 consolidation into the Farmington Public School District, the school moved to its current location in 1953 and underwent a major modernization beginning on March 10, 1998, which included a three-year renovation and expansion of technology and facilities.
