Thomas S. Vander Woude Memorial Scholar-athlete Scholarship

Overview

The Thomas S. Vander Woude Memorial Scholar-Athlete Scholarship was established in 2010 by Christendom College’s Athletic Department in memory of the college's late athletic director, Tom Vander Woude. Tom Vander Woude died in 2008 while saving the life of one of his sons, and was deeply dedicated to the character development and personal formation of young people through athletics. His legacy is encapsulated in the mantra now written above the doors of the college's gymnasium: 'for the love of the game and the glory of God.' This four-year renewable scholarship is awarded to two incoming freshmen each year who excel in academics, leadership, and athletics.
