Overview
The GEAR UP (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs) grant is a federally funded program designed to increase the number of low-income students who are prepared to enter and succeed in postsecondary education. At the University of Michigan, the Center for Educational Outreach (CEO) partners with local schools to provide academic support, college preparation activities, and information on financial aid. The program prepares limited-income students for success in post-secondary education through academic support, workshops, and cultural enrichment opportunities. CEO received the GEAR UP grant, initiating a seven-year program to support students from middle school through their first year of college.
