Overview

Established in 1976 by a bequest from H. Catherine England (1935 AB), this scholarship provides financial assistance for women from Jackson County, Michigan to attend the University of Michigan. Catherine was a long-time member of the Alumnae Council Scholarship Selections Committee who sought applicants with high performance standards and a keen business sense. She was deeply interested in the political and social changes of the 1950s and 1960s and urged young women to take advantage of these changes by exploring new fields and careers.
